Consistently scouring the globe for the world’s finest and most consistent materials, Shipway pulled together the perfect custom staircase to complete this exclusive mansion, backing onto the Blue Springs Golf Club in the Halton Hills, near Acton Ontario.
This 18-rise, one-of-a-kind staircase needed to complement the home’s impressive features, which boast reclaimed Elm hand-scraped floors, Venetian plaster walls and luxurious light fixtures.
The raw lumber was acquired from a sawmill in Brattleboro, Vermont, an area known for producing top quality Red Oak and Hard Maple that’s exceptionally consistent in both colour and texture. In fact, the trees were logged within a 100-mile to ensure optimal consistency.
The Parisienne Collection balusters are made of wrought iron imported directly from Eschau, a small town south of Strasbourg, France. It’s along the French side of the Rhine River, an area that has a rich, long and proud history of word-class artisan work.
The open riser design, traditional R4C rail profile with Royal Posts, and medium walnut finish were carefully selected to complete the staircase’s desired look and feel, to the client’s total delight.
